Guess what day today is! Can't figure it out? It's the one year birthday of Create Sparkle! One year ago, I published my first post, Fancy Flavors Ice Cream Truck, and now a year later, I'm still building sweet treats!

I love cake, and so when I decided to build a dessert to celebrate the one year anniversary, I decided that a cake was the best way to go! But as you'll notice when you look closely, this isn't your average cake. Instead, this cake is a combination of my love of LEGO buildings and architecture, and my love of all things cake!

Plus, this cake also opens up for easy access to the inside! My first attempt on a cake was a square cake. However, I realized that it would look a lot better circular, and so I attempted to make a circular cake out of LEGO. While I was able to get the circle shape done, I knew the top would have to be firmly attached, and that it would be pretty hard to have a removable roof. That's where the decision to make walls that open up came in. That way, I don't have to take off the roof to build and play with the inside!

Speaking of the inside, let's go explore the interior of this building!
The inside of this cake really plays more on the building aspect of the cake. And what better way to decorate a cake than to make a cake store? This store is made on the simple end, with two chairs, and a few tables. Plus, to bring on the cake, we have three beautifully decorated cakes on the tables. With two vanilla cakes and one simple but pretty purple cake, this shop is sure to be my go-to for my own birthday! And while the original idea was to make this shop two levels, I think it's even better with just one floor and plenty of windows to let the light in!

Another detail I love about this shop is the frosting on the top. Instead of trying to find enough white pieces to cover up the roof smoothly, I dug out all my curvy and bumpy white pieces. This not only covered up the brown platform beneath the white pieces, but it also gives it the realistic texture of white frosting!

Plus, one final detail in this picture is the flowers and the frosting drips! The flowers I build to bring out the fact that this cake is also a building. The flowers are also bright and cheerful, and bring an extra touch of color to this building!
And while the flowers made it look like a building, I build the frosting drips to show that this is also still a cake, with pink frosting on the sides and white frosting swirled on the top!
