Welcome to my overgrown greenhouse! This summer, we were traveling to San Antonio Texas, and we decided to go to the Botanical Garden, a beautiful garden with amazing greenhouses. And that's where I got the inspiration for this greenhouse!

Greenhouse - a glass building in which plants are grown that need protection from cold weather - google

Although from the inside it may seem obvious that this is a greenhouse, it isn't quite so obvious on the outside, which is designed to look like a normal building that one may just walk by.
Some features of the building itself are that it is all white (which I've never built before) and that it has a lot of fun little architecture details, a lot more than I usually add.
Another feature I like is that on the sides of the building, the bricks are all of different lengths, which gradually give away to the hidden greenhouse.

Now to the funnest part of this build; the greenhouse! An exploding kaleidoscope of colors, this was definitely the funnest part of building this model.
You may notice in the definition above, a greenhouse has glass. Lots of it. But of course my greenhouse wouldn't be overgrown if it had glass, so that's why there's a thin, 1/3 stud layer of clear bricks, to represent the greenhouse feature.

Another feature of this greenhouse is the contrast between trees and overgrown flowers and plants. At first, I just wanted to build a regular greenhouse, but then I realized that;
I wouldn't have enough plants to fill up the space and give it an overgrown feeling
Most of the plants would just be trees
So I decided that it wouldn't hurt to add a couple of big flowers and plants (like the giant leaves above).

The plants I added are the only part of the set that I didn't design. The red flower, the yellow flower, and the purple flower are all part of the LEGO sets Roses 40460 and Tulips 40461. I also got some parts of tree branches from Tree House 21318. And all of these elements are combined to make the garden you see in front of you, which is tied together with little details and a good story about what this building is.

So even though some parts of this build are from other sets, and even though it's a very simple concept, I still think it's a beautiful building that showcases some amazing natural elements and pushes the limitations to what our greenhouses look like.

I love how the lengths of the bricks are uneven, and the white building fades into lush, colorful greenery.
